Commission tracker

Track commission payouts for your team members — linked to invoices, retainers, or logged manually. See who is owed what, mark payouts, and keep a full history for payroll.

Note: Commission tracker is available on Studio and Agency plans. Only the workspace owner can manage commission settings and entries.

Setting up commission rates

Go to Commission in the sidebar. You'll see a list of all team members. For each member:

  • Toggle Gets commission on to enable commission tracking for that member
  • Enter a default rate (percentage) — this pre-fills when you add a new entry for them
  • Toggle Can view own to let that member see their own commission history in the app
  • Save the rate with the Save button that appears when you change the rate
Tip: The default rate is a starting point — you can override the rate on any individual entry. Useful when a member has a higher rate for a specific project or retainer.

Adding a commission entry

Click Add entry in the Commission entries table. Fill in:

  • Team member — who the commission is for. Their default rate pre-fills automatically.
  • Source — link the entry to an invoice, a retainer, or log it as a manual / other entry.
  • Base amount — the rand value commission is calculated on. Pre-fills from the invoice or retainer total when you pick one.
  • Rate — percentage applied to the base amount. Override the default here if needed.
  • Period — the commission period (e.g. 25 Mar – 24 Apr). Defaults to the current 25th-to-24th cycle.
  • Notes — optional description (e.g. "Project X bonus"). Used as the label for manual entries.

A live commission amount preview updates as you type the base amount and rate. Click Add entry to save.

Marking entries paid

Select one or more entries using the checkboxes in the table, then click Mark paid. The entry is stamped with today's date and shown as Paid in green. You can also mark entries unpaid if you need to reverse this.

Tip: Filter by Unpaid before payroll to see exactly what needs to go out. Select all and mark paid in one action once the transfer is done.

Filtering and summary

Use the member and paid/unpaid filters above the table to narrow the view. The Summary cards above the table update to show unpaid and total amounts for each member in the filtered view.

Member commission view

If a member has Can view own enabled, they can navigate to Commission in their sidebar and see a read-only view of their own entries — default rate, unpaid balance, all-time total, and a filterable history. They cannot see other members' commission, add entries, or change settings.

  • Members without permission do not see the Commission link in the sidebar at all
  • The permission is per-member — grant it individually for each team member who should see their own data
  • Toggling Can view own off immediately removes their access

Commission periods

Commission entries have a free-form period — there is no fixed cycle enforced by the system. The default period pre-fills to the 25th of last month through the 24th of this month, but you can change both dates freely on any entry. Common setups:

  • Monthly (25th–24th): the default — useful if you pay on the 25th
  • Calendar month (1st–31st): just adjust dates when adding entries
  • Per-project: set the period to match the project start and end
  • Per-invoice: set both dates to the invoice date for a one-off entry
